The goal of our newsletter is to inform you, our members, about traditional jazz and ragtime
events and matters related to OKOM (Our Kind Of Music).  I’m sure the content and format
will vary from month to month but I hope you find the EARLYJAS Rag readable and
interesting.  I am indebted to our contributors, notably, Bill, Bill, and Jeanne, who toil to
provide us with new material each month.  Thanks much!
Let me encourage you to provide me with original articles for possible inclusion in the Rag.  
Items should be under 500 words, preferably in electronic format, with attribution to any
sources you might quote.  For each article you write, we will double your pay over the previous
article.  The current rate is “Thank You!”
We are considering adding a “For Sale” or “Wanted” section.  If you have an instrument for
sale or want to dump your 8-track collection of Kenny G. recordings, or buy Ted Witt’s old
reeds, let me know.
I’d like to pay tribute to the fans and musicians who support the music we love.  The
Personalities  section was designed for that purpose.  Will you recommend someone to be
featured in this section?
Other ideas about features, articles will be welcomed.

Several of our members who have attended the Chattanooga Traditional Jazz Festival and the
Sun Coast Jazz Festivals report them to be great festivals:  Excellent bands and nice facilities.   
One of the reasons the festivals are successful is that the organizers have been able to attract
sponsors for bands.  We think that’s a great idea, so here’s the pitch:
